Healthy and happy with Vitamin Green: An initiative for people without network access
Remember? What was looming for weeks became reality in March 2020: a strict lockdown. To keep our health system afloat, we had to reduce social life to zero and stay home. Widespread restrictions and contact limits dominated our lives. Those were tough times no one wants to talk about anymore. But one thing remains: we can contribute significantly to our well-being and better health through our own lifestyle.
The VITAMIN G3 Campaign – A Touch of Green in Troubled Times

The pandemic confronted us daily with situations we had once thought unimaginable—challenging us emotionally, physically, psychologically, and even existentially.
While initiatives quickly emerged online to support people—offering digital social contact or video tutorials for exercise, meditation, and yoga—many vulnerable groups were left behind. These included people without internet access due to limited coverage, or those unable to navigate digital tools, often because of age.
To reach exactly these individuals, I launched the campaign VITAMIN G3 – Healthy and Happy with Vitamin Green, which quickly gained widespread support. The publisher OPTIMUM Medien & Service brought the VITAMIN G3 health card decks to life in record time.
The accompanying initiative, “The Forest in the City,” particularly inspired older adults and sent a strong, uplifting message. Every evening at 6:30 p.m., people came together—on balconies, at open windows, in gardens, or on their terraces. Using the free “Forest in the City” exercise card, they created a shared forest experience right in the heart of the city—strengthening their resilience and boosting their immune systems. Each person on their own, yet all connected. A welcome change—and an undeniable success.
What we’ve learned: our immune system can change. So how do we support it in the best possible way?

Through movement, healthy nutrition, effective stress management, and freedom from harmful habits—and last but not least, by spending time in nature, especially in the forest, as countless studies now confirm. Forest air is one of the best things we can do for our lungs (click here for a simple, effective exercise). Research in psychoneuroimmunology shows that people under chronic stress are particularly vulnerable to viruses. The more relaxed, balanced, and content we feel, the greater our chances of staying—or becoming—healthy.
I firmly believe that each of us carries an inner doctor—one who helps us overcome even seemingly insurmountable challenges and take life into our own hands with a positive mindset.
We don’t need anything complicated to activate this healing potential—just the basics.
Both the natural world around us and the one within us likely hold everything we need to build resilience against stress, illness, and crisis. With the VITAMIN G3 – Healthy and Happy with Vitamin Green initiative, we set out to make this simple but vital message accessible to the people who needed it most.
The health decks continue to offer small doses of everyday inspiration: practical prompts and exercises that can be done anywhere. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone who wants to do just a little something each day for their health and well-being.
