Dr. iur. Melanie H. Adamek | Licensed Practitioner for Psychotherapy, Munich, Germany

In a fast-paced world full of responsibilities, it’s easy to lose the balance between head and heart. I support people in challenging times to reconnect with their own path—clear in thought, open in feeling, and courageous in action.

Psychotherapy under the Heilpraktiker Act. Acceptance. Congruence. Empathy.

My role as a non-medical psychotherapist in the German healthcare system

Mental health challenges are on the rise in our society. At the same time, waiting lists for licensed health insurance-funded therapists are often long. This is where Heilpraktiker*innen für Psychotherapie come in: we help fill a crucial gap in the mental healthcare system and provide essential support to people in need.

As a Heilpraktikerin für Psychotherapie – a licensed non-medical practitioner for psychotherapy under German law (§1 Heilpraktikergesetz) – I am authorized to independently diagnose and treat mental health conditions using recognized psychotherapeutic methods. The license is granted by the local public health authority following a comprehensive examination that covers both medical and psychological knowledge. Important to note: Non-medical psychotherapists do not prescribe medication and do not treat physical illnesses. Our focus is purely on psychotherapeutic support.

Many of my clients seek help during life transitions or acute crises, including chronic stress, anxiety, or depressive symptoms. I offer individual therapeutic support in a trusting, safe atmosphere that allows for sustainable growth and healing. In addition to individual therapy, I also work with corporate clients who aim to foster the mental well-being and personal development of their employees.

Business coaching and potential development. Reflection. Development. Presence

My core expertise: working with people in leadership roles and supporting potential development in organizational settings

Leadership means making decisions, carrying expectations, and offering direction – often under high pressure, with little room for self-reflection. I help people in leadership positions gain clarity, strengthen their inner resilience, and act with authenticity, even in complex situations.

At the same time, I support organizations in creating space for personal development, emotional stability, and mental well-being. When nurtured well, personal potential becomes a true value driver – human, sustainable, and effective.

My unique strength lies in the combination of therapeutic expertise, business acumen, and real-world leadership experience. As a PhD jurist, corporate counsel, and later managing director in an international media group, I am intimately familiar with the diverse challenges of leadership and responsibility.

I understand the dynamics of leadership, the solitude of decision-making, and the inner tension between professional role and personal identity. Today, I combine that lived experience with psychotherapeutic skill and psychological sensitivity to support those in positions of responsibility – empathetically, clearly, and effectively.

Business coaching for managers and executives

Careers today rarely follow a straight path. Especially for experienced professionals and leaders, there come phases when questions arise: Does this still fit me? Do I want to continue this way? What’s next? In my coaching, I support you in resetting your professional course — thoughtfully, clearly, and with an awareness of your strengths and values.

I work with people who have accomplished a lot — and who, for that very reason, want to allow themselves to pause and reflect on how their personal journey should continue. My own extensive experience as a corporate lawyer, later managing director in an international business environment, and my work with decision-makers at all levels enable me to provide deep, practical guidance — with a clear perspective and psychological insight.

Common topics

  • Assessing your position: Where do I stand professionally, personally, and internally?
  • Reflecting on your role: What kind of leader do I want to be? What suits me?
  • Career reorientation: Exploring new paths and developing concrete options
  • Managing change: Maintaining inner stability during periods of transition
  • Planning the future: Making career decisions with clarity and inner agreement

Potential development for companies and employees

I  support companies that want to offer personal growth and mental well-being to their teams – discreetly, individually, and practically. Confidential one-on-one conversations provide psychological support for employees or leaders, e.g. during stress, self-doubt, career changes, or role transitions. These sessions also enhance communication, resilience, and personal growth.

Individual dialogue creates space for reflection and clarity, especially during decision-making processes, pressure, or leadership challenges. I also offer support during restructuring, mergers, or other organizational change processes that often trigger uncertainty or emotional stress.

Early intervention can prevent mental overload, reduce absenteeism, and boost employee retention.

Common topics

  • Individual coaching for employees and leaders
  • Reflection spaces for decision-makers
  • Psychological support in times of change
  • Preventing mental strain proactively

Clarity. Trust. Development. You and your needs are at the heart of the process

Coaching or therapy? No need to decide now. Just bring what’s moving you

Coaching is suitable for emotionally stable individuals facing transitions or seeking personal or professional growth. It focuses on tangible goals, resource activation, and solution-oriented strategies. Common themes include leadership, conflict resolution, decision-making, or gaining more confidence in daily life.

Psychotherapy, on the other hand, begins where emotional distress, chronic tension, or reduced quality of life is present. It goes deeper, addressing anxiety, grief, trauma, inner patterns, or persistent interpersonal challenges. The process aims to understand root causes, gain insight, and strengthen emotional stability. I provide a safe, supportive space where you can explore and grow at your own pace – with presence, care, and psychological depth.

As a non-medical psychotherapist, I am qualified to work in both domains. You don’t need to choose at the outset. Simply come with whatever moves you. Together, we will explore what approach is most helpful: a new perspective, a clear direction, practical strategies, or deeper emotional healing.

Focus. Connection. Journey. I support you with a personal and transparent approach

Ready for change? Let’s start with a first conversation

Taking the first step is often the hardest. If you're feeling the need for change, relief, or a new direction, I'm here to walk that path with you. Here's how we can begin our work together:

Introductory call (free of charge)
We begin with a short digital or phone consultation (about 15 minutes) to understand your situation and see which approach is right for you.

Individual support
Sessions are held in a private, supportive setting in my practice, online, or optionally at your home or in nature. Frequency and duration depend entirely on your needs.

Transparency in all steps
I work exclusively with self-paying clients. This means no entries with health insurance providers, no bureaucratic hurdles, and full autonomy over content, frequency, and method. You receive discreet, flexible support tailored to where you currently are – whether solution-oriented or in-depth. My fee is €140 per hour. Please note: Coaching, consulting, and trainings that serve purposes such as personal development or professional reflection (rather than treatment of illness) are subject to VAT. Companies receive individual quotes.

I take the time you need – and you set the pace and how far we go. What matters most is that you feel safe, seen, and supported. Openness, respect, and genuine care are at the heart of everything I do.
